About the project
Are you interested in contributing to the future of biomedical diagnostics while gaining hands-on experience with cell culture techniques? The Physical Intelligence Department develops cutting-edge diagnostic methods that rely on high-quality, reliable cell culture work. They are seeking a motivated student assistant to help maintain their cell lines and support our experiments, contributing directly to the development of novel diagnostic solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
In this research context, they are looking for a talented student who is pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology (Biologie), biotechnology (Biotechnologie), biomedical sciences (Biomedizin), molecular medicine (Molekulare Medizin) or a related life sciences discipline to support the research as a student assistant (HiWi). Possible tasks include:
- Cultivation and maintenance of various cell lines (thawing, passaging, cryopreservation).
- Preparation of culture media and reagents.
- Assisting with cell-based assays relevant to our diagnostic experiments.
- Documentation of lab activities
Education & Experience
Applicants should have
- Enrollment at a German university in a relevant field such as biology, biotechnology, biomedicine, molecular medicine, or a related discipline.
- Previous laboratory experience in cell culture (e.g., during Bachelor’s thesis, internships, or courses).
- Good laboratory practices (GLP) and careful, independent work style.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English (German is a plus).
They are also interested in candidates who have
- Experience with sterile work under a biosafety cabinet.
- Familiarity with basic microscopy.
- Interest in learning additional techniques related to diagnostics and molecular biology.

Student assistants without a bachelor degree will be paid €13.80 per hour. Student assistants with a bachelor degree will be paid €14.40 per hour. Working time is up to 20 hours per week.
