Communications manager (f/m/d)
The Tübingen AI Center is looking for a highly motivated, reliable and flexible person for science communication, public relations and content management. The position (E13 TV-L, 100%) is newly established at the University of Tübingen as part of the Tübingen AI Center’s Central Office and is permanent.
The Tübingen AI Center is a joint research institute for machine learning of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. The facility brings together top international researchers to achieve fundamental advances in AI research and use them for the benefit of society. The Tübingen AI Center is funded by the Ministry of Science and the Arts in Baden-Württemberg (MWK) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the German AI Strategy. It is embedded in an ecosystem of regional and international initiatives such as Cyber Valley and ELLIS.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Developing and implementing target group-oriented communication measures (internal and external communication)
- Writing and publishing press releases and answering press enquiries
- Creating texts, graphics and film clips about the activities of the Tübingen AI Center
- Establishing a strategy for presence in social media channels
- Maintaining and updating the website
- Establishing and continuously monitoring appropriate metrics for media activities
- Promotion of events such as trade fairs or competitions
- Design of materials for (major) events and workshops
- PR within the association at national AI competence Centers, such as articles for newsletters or updates on website
- Cooperation with the communications department of the University of Tübingen and with the public relations teams of Cyber Valley and the Cluster of Excellence for Machine Learning
Requirements
- Successfully completed academic university studies (Master’s degree or diploma)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English
- Relevant professional experience in press and public relations work
- Experience in a scientific environment is an advantage
- Experience in storytelling, project management and the ability to translate complex topics and concepts into meaningful messages
- Interest in topics related to AI and machine learning
- Familiarity with content management systems
- Flexibility, organisational skills and the ability to deal constructively with (time) critical situations
